I am looking at putting one of these on a Rem. 700 Long Range but my only concern is that it is made of hardened aluminum and not steel.

Does anyone have any experience with this base. I will be using steel rings and just wanted to make sure that the harder steel rings would damage the hardened aluminum. My other option is to spend a little more and get the Nightforce base.

BTW the base will be a 20 MOA base for a Rem 700 long action.

It's a fairly common practice. No issues with mine.

If you look at ARs, most quality rings/mounts are steel clamped to an aluminum rail.

I have a seekins base on a Borden action. Buy with confidence.
