I've never really looked at a calendar in relation to the white oak drop, but it will definitely affect a specific plan for my daughter's draw hunt this year. About when should I expect the acorns to start dropping in earnest in the Rhea/Meigs/Hamilton county area?

Buddy they're dropping here at the house already, in the valley that is. There's a huge chestnut oak here by the house that's dropping.

Thanks Steve. I'm curious about drought shed vs main crop. I'm looking at escape routes around current feeding sources (overgrown fields) vs hunting white oak stands. I guess I need to walk through the white oak stand and look for acorns on the ground.

Hunt is 2 days in early October

Good luck buddy. It's still major hot out there. We had heavy rain for weeks upon weeks, then the last week or so the heat set in and not a drop in that time span. I think chestnut oaks drop earlier than the others anyway so they may be on schedule.
