I have a scope that has been on nearly every gun I've owned for the last 9 years. It seems it gets put on the newest rifle until I find one I want/need and replace it. It's ended up on my daughters 223. Shot this evening and at 100 yards it ran a vertical sting maybe 3 inches tall for 5 shots. I adjusted 2 moa up. Shot 3. Could have covered the group with my thumb nail. I have no idea how many more I shot. 3-4 maybe. They were another 2 inches higher than the middle group. Group was a bit more open. I haven't settled on a load in this gun so I can't rule that out. But why would my first 5 shots run a vertical string. Next 3 after an adjustment be fairly respectable and my next few shots without adhustment move up 2 inches. I wish I had took a picture to give a better understanding. Basically I had 3 different groups. But should have had 2. The scope in question is a leupold rifleman 3-9x40. It's been highly abused but always done well. Has it finally bit the dust.
