Does anyone recognize the brand of scope? I picked it up at the local thrift store. Looks brand new, but I can't find any markings on it.

Could be a factory rifle take off that Bushnell produces. I had one on a Remington 710 that came on it new, and one on my daughter's Rem model 770 as well.

That would be my guess as well, especially with those rings. Looks like the package scope from a 710 or a 700 ADL.

Bushnell Banner .. will make a excellent fishing weight come trout season. U did well !

I won one of those once on a Remington 710. Its a package deal like has already been posted. It zeroed in fine but that's the extent of my knowledge on it because I traded the rifle off.

I have a Banner on a 7mm-08 and it's actually done pretty well with managed recoil loads. I'm glad to hear this-I'm looking for another one for another kid who will start shooting this year. Not bad for less than $2.

People tell stories about scopes like these. They start with something like having trouble zeroing it. Then it'll be that it was too dark at first lite and they couldn't get that huge buck in the crosshairs. Or it fogs up. Or all of the sudden it's "off."

Don't get me wrong - I hope it serves you well if you decided to keep it, but there is just too much invested in a hunt to not go ahead and get a good optic.

Thanks for the input! It'll get replaced as soon as a reasonable opportunity presents, but if it gets one of my six kids in the woods hunting on top of a single-shot rifle next year (this is for a nine year-old) she can work her way up.

I'd personally rather her have a fixed 4X but we'll make do until then.
