Does anybody know if you have to have a CDL after converting a schoolbus with airbrakes into a camper?

Normally no, unless used in a commercial enterprise.
Just a word of advice: Check on insurance before you buy. I have a friend that has a school bus camper and he said no insurance company will insure it. None.

Also, many campgrounds won't allow them. No Skoolies as they say.
