Wondering if anyone has ever built their own micro camper or square/tear drop camper. Thinking about building one with a kayak rack on top.

I seen several pop-up camper that people made it solid.
Finally got started toward the end of June. A work in process, I guess. Hoping to be finished by first of October.
Buying pre manufactured door & windows?
And what is your estimated budget on the build?
Yea, the door is a 30"x36", the windows are 15"x30". Depending on which route I go for the exterior coating I shouldn't go over $3k. The MDO plywood purchase hurt.
Some stuff I saved money on like primer and paint, by using just out of date MILSPEC paint for the frame and axle. Take off wheels off a Toyota 4Runner . So I can use the spare on my truck if needed. It was cheaper to change the hubs to six lug than buy a spare wheel and tire. Also don't have to mount a spare on the trailer.
Heck yea, that'll be perfect when you get done. I don't trust my welding skills enough for frame work. I'd be driving down the road and hit a bump and it would explode like a piñata lol.
Man that looks great! Wish I had those skills.

Cool project. Any updates?
Haven't got to work on it a whole lot. I had a couple honey do's to finish I had started. I did make a change, I moved the entrance door to the rear, to make it easier loading things in it and getting in and out of it. I'm going to make a step that will just plug in the receiver hitch just below the door. I have all the structural framing finished. Wiring will be next.

This is awesome! What are the rules as far as registering something like this since you're building it yourself? Will it need a license plate?

Wiring is finished, inside is finished, all roof panels cut and drilled ready to be installed, exterior coating, fenders, Air vent fan, door and windows installed should wind it up.
