Scent Elimination

Ozone generator that goes into a plastic tote. Just FYI, it eats elastic. The crooked horn bino holders don't old up.

The wind.

As far as sprays and stuff, there was a scientific study done a while back with a dog. I'll see if I can find it. Seems like I remember Scent-a-way coming out on top.

X2 the wind, even if I'm sprayed up I will sweat during bow season and fart during the rest of the season

I typically use baking soda to wash my clothes, place in plastic tote, and spray down with scent a way. hunt favorable winds and don't touch every branch on my way in and out..

I try to play the wind as best as I can. For years I always used whatever scent spray I could find for cheap. I have been busted by all the different sprays. And there has never been a situation where I knew for sure the scent spray worked until last year. I bought some scent killer 99% and several times I had does and bucks both walk in on the trail I came in on. Still there were too many variables cause some of the times I wore rubber boots, and other times I was wearing freshly washed camo. There was one morning that I went out and had camo on that hadn't been washed in 6-8 hunts but I had good steady wind. I sprayed down and climbed up the tree that had a big hill to my back down wind where I needed it. I sat there for a few hours but didn't see anything. Earlier I thought I heard one in the thicket to my west but never saw it. I was going to stand up and eat an Apple so I looked all around to make sure it was clear and right behind me little ways up the hill at 12 yards on a dead even plane was a doe bedded down. There was a constant 10mph wind that day and it was blowing straight in her nose. She saw me move a little when I looked behind but not enough to cause her to blow me out. She stood up stretched and eased on off. Thats the time that really stuck out on scent sprays for me. I've got buddies that swear by one and hate all the rest but I guess it depends on the experiences you have with them.

Never tried it yet but some are using bee smokers to smoke their clothes I just dont know if I could stand that smell all day I can still smell the doe pee I used years ago.

I don't know that I believe the baking soda dropping scent all through the woods. I know it seems to work for me and several of the old heads I grew up hunting with. Beside the point, scent control is not 100 percent. Do what you can but most importantly play the wind.

I use the smoke very effectively but also try to otherwise be scent conscious as far as human odor. The smoke works if used properly.

I go overboard from washing my clothes and body in scent elimination products. I put my boots and clothes in rubber totes with scent wafers. I wear scentlok clothing and rubber boots. I get dressed after pulling into my hunting parking spot no matter what the weather is doing. I spray down before walking in and when I first get in the stand. I also use coon urine as cover scent in the tink canisters. Some people will debate if it works or not. It really only matters if it gives me confidence while hunting.... :)

I love the hunt the wind comments and that's true until you watch the wind blow 4 different directions in a 6 hour period while being in the mountains.

In Ky most of them boys would hunt that from the front seat of their trucks. Don't need much scent control for that.... :tu:

IF YOU BREATH, THEY CAN SMELL YOU AND IF YOU EAT CHOCOLATE THEY CAN SMELL THAT TOO. HUNT ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE WIND AND THERMAL DRAFTS THEN YOU MAY GO UNDETECTED.

I'm more concerned about the trail of scent I leave walking in than how bad I smell in the tree.

No such thing as a cover scent when deer hunting, deer can discern several different smells at once, you simply smell like a human with dirt or Fox pee or whatever. Stay as scent free as possible and use the wind/thermals to the best of your ability!
