What's the word? I hear people saying they see chasing but I seen 12 does this morning a group of 8 and group of 4 and no bucks to be found.

I agree with southpaw14. What is the general time frame from when the initial chasing from immature bucks to chasing by mature bucks?

Just got back Tuesday from a five day hunt in Wayne county. Nothing. Just a handfull of rubs and scrapes. Only a few small bucks seen wandering around.

Was in Houston from wed to last night very little movement during the day.Saw a few spikes, does and a little 8. During the week... I think maybe they will move a little more after some rain, You can hear them coming from a mile away right now and I think they are staying in the pines or bedded down for the most part. Still alot of acorns on the ground so find some thick stuff and wait it out...I'm heading back tonite for the weekend and free passes are about to run out...

I agree with Poser. It's just starting here in my part of McNairy. Mainly young bucks being seen but a few people have seen big deer chasing. Saturday looks like it will be dynamite.

Wednesday morning I glassed the first doe I've seen with hocks beginning to turn darker. It my not be 100% but usually that's a sign I look for signaling does beginning to come into estrous.

My last two hunts in Carroll cnty have seen only two small bucks. Same areas were I have seen numerous does, small bucks chasing & killed a nice 8 point on the 12th. Lockdown maybe?

Saw a lot of movement this morning but zero rutting activity. None of the scrapes have been hit in a few days. Not sure what to think.

If the peak rut has already hit, the deer here in haywood havnt realized it. I havnt seen a scrape since before muzzleload season. The rubs are around, but havnt started heating up yet. I've seen small bucks starting to have black glands, but from pics of bigger bucks, no such sign. Big bucks still moving at midnight on my cameras. Plenty of spikes and 4 pts roaming between daylight and 8am. My guess is we are "behind schedule" this year from the warmer weather patterns. Deer don't have a calendar. Biology plays a major part in the breeding cycle, but cool weather tells them its winter, not the month on our calendars. With this cold spell, things should pick up.

I shot my first buck during muzzleloader that was checking a scrape, my second buck was chasing a doe, his torsel glands weren't very black at all.

I have seen a bunch of bucks crusing, 90% of them have been 1.1/2 olds. Been seeing a high number of does with young ones following them.

There has been alot of nite movement at the scrapes were my cameras are.

So is it at its peek, I don't think so buts its sure on their minds.

First signs of chasing were on Nov. 5. killed a 8 pt Nov 12 chasing. Last week have seen no does & only two 1.5yr old bucks I just been gauging the rut by timing estimates given on thsi site. I am by no means the expert!

Seen 2.5yr old 8pt just walking through, couple of does by themselves, a group of 3 mature does with 4 little ones being chased by a spike and then again by a button. Another buddy seen 2 fighting and yet another buddy seen a spike chasing and a 2.5 yr old. 9pt just walking through. It's heating up but not full force. This is in rossville, Fayette county
