What are the predictions for the 2024 rut in West TN? (I'm in Jackson, TN).
I agree, last year peak was right at thanksgiving - dec 5th or so.. buddy killed his biggest chasing a doe at 15 yards the day after thanksgiving and the day after that buddy killed a good mature buck chasing a hot doe and best 2 days I had of rut action was dec 1st ( killed a mature buck with a hoe doe) and dec 2nd shot another mature buck looking for does this previous season!South of you toward Bolivar/Whiteville/Somerville, I'd guess around Thanksgiving as the peak, maybe a week later.
That's right on time for those counties on the eastern side of KY Lake.Best dates statistically for my Perry County farm have been November 18th through the 22nd. That seems to be the start of the post rut as they are locked down in cover the week before that.
i'm in hardeman co and the peek breeding dates are, historically, the first week of december. i have had the most luck seeing the typical rutting behavior of chasing toward the end of november. someone else said thanksgiving which i agree with. i looked up the TN deer county record books one time and most of the deer were killed in the last week to 10 days of november. also, others have said this and its true, not just from opinions but based on numerous scientific studies, the rut will be around the same date every year in respective areasWhat are the predictions for the 2024 rut in West TN?
