I don't have one.. but have shot one several times and I have no complaints.

I have the S&W Bodyguard 380 which is similar and love it. Some people don't like that the laser isn't removable, but it doesn't bother me. I got mine for an excellent price - otherwise I would have bought the LCP.

I love mine. I've had it a little over a year and I have the Crimson Trace laser, once signted in you can pratice point and shoot with it in the house UNLOADED of course.

I carry it with me everywhere I go. I have a wallet hoster and nobody knows I'm packing. In the summer I have it in my shorts back pocket and it looks like a wallet.

Go here to find out anything and everything you ever wanted to know about the Ruger LCP.

If your buying something to leave in your vehicle, I'd go a little bigger.. If you buying to carry, the .380 is a good piece mainly because its small enough to actually carry!

I started out carrying a S&W Model 39.. Figured out real quick it was too big for my tastes. Then I bought a Taurus PT740 Slim.. I Love the gun and carry it in the colder months when I wear larger shirts.. But I found myself never carrying it in the summer because it wasn't easily concealable. Now its a "truck" gun.

I bought a S&W bodyguard that fits great in my back or front pocket. Its no problem to conceal. I was shocked when I shot mine the first time. It is L-O-U-D and has a good punch for such a small gun..

i have owned the lcp and was not a fan of it. it was just too small for my hands and was uncomfortable. i like the body guard it feels a little bigger in my hand but if you want a real nice truck gun then you need to look at Kahr here is there website:

You can fit a Chihuahua in the console of that King Ranch (trust me, I know). I keep a full sized pistol in mine, and I'd recommend you do the same. My flavor of choice happens to be a Glock .40.

also be careful about leaving guns in your truck i would feel somewhat bad i think if someone shot someone with my gun because they stole it from my vehicle

I wouldn't they are the criminal. I have a right to keep what I want under lock and key in my truck just like my house.

I have a LCP in 380 and a LCR in 38. I haven't shot either yet but I like the feel of both. The LCP has the laser... Not a laser fan but it keeps it square in my pocket. I usually carry the bodyguard 38 revolver... Nice carry gun for me.

I ordered a Smith M&P Shield in 9 this morning. I held one and it appears to be a great carry gun also... If you can get one. It's not confirmed I'm getting it yet. Waiting on the call now. It felt awesome.

Ive had an LCP since they came out, and its a very good choice for an every day cary gun because its so easy to carry there is no reason not to have it with you. My car gun is an M&P 40, IMO a car gun can and should be a bigger pistol with more punch.

Coal Creek in Knoxville has a Shield in stock right now. I thought it was going to be a smaller pistol, its basically a single stack M&P compact. It is slim and lighter, but its not a pocket gun IMO.

right i agree with you totally but it is my responsibility to keep my firearms under my control at all times. now i see where the argument is gonna come in about a safe in the house while your at work and things like that, but your vehicle is more exposed to the element of crime out in the world. i used to keep 2 pistols in my truck, one in the middle console and one in a bag under my backseat. after some recent burglary activity of people breaking into cars in little ol' smyrna,tn i said you know what i would feel terrible if some low pant ridin, good for nothin, hood rattin piece of trash got their hands on one of my guns and killed some kid in a drive by because i felt like i need to keep a firearm in my truck when i carry 2 on me everyday. this is just my opinion and in no way is intended to be an argument starter just the way i feel

Not a pocket gun... Just commenting on the feel and size. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Thinking about a hand gun to carry in the car and contemplating the Ruger LCP. Anybody have one or shot one? Opinions?

Thanks!

Chad I had a Taurus TCP .380 and loved it. The only thing is it was extremely small for my hands. I sold it and bought a S&W 442 Airweight 38 + P. I like it much better and it being a revolver it will never fail. It is my backup carry to my Kahr CM9.

Thanks all for the replies and just to clarify I have a car and truck that I alternate driving and currently have a Smith & Wesson 642 Airweight 38+P that I switch back and forth but I'm tired of doing that and want something to just leave in both of them. I had a Bersa Thunder .380 one time and thought about another one. The one concern I have about the LCP is from what I've read there is no safety switch and that concerns me with my family in the car. If the trigger is rather stiff like on my S&W I wouldn't worry about it. I had a Glock model 27 .40 several years back and sold it for that reason but kind of wish I still had it. I do like the wheel gun because if one doesn't go off just keep pulling the trigger but like a semi-auto since you have more than 5 rounds. Decisions, decisions, decisions....

Thanks all!

The safety is the LONG trigger pull on the Ruger 380.

It takes a little getting used to but after shooting it a couple days I never gave it another thought. In fact I like it ON THAT GUN. Remember this is NOT a range gun or a hunting gun, it's a small carry gun.

Check out the site I posted, there are questions on the same thing you just posted and they have a ton of answers. I went to that siite before I bought mine and after reading all I could I went out and bought mine.
