Want a lightweight AR for walking varminter. Any of y'all using any of the Remington ARs and have strong opinions?

Thinking about building one with a trimmed down 20-in. tube, slickside receiver, shaved FSB, LW bolt carrier, and a CavArms synthetic lower, trying to get weight down around 6 lb. with a light fixed scope.

Any input appreciated.

Look at the Bushmaster Predator. I use to have one but I think it weighed around 8 lbs. w/o scope. Getting one down to 6lb. with scope will be your biggest challenge.

I love my R15,,the Bushmaster Predator is the same gun,,maybe a different trigger and camo,,mine shoots like a varmint bbl bolt rifle and is pretty light and has 18 inch bbl,,I LOVE IT,,

they had one with the 6 position stock in Gamaliel last week for 900 that is like new fired 12 times,,new full stock one for 1150,,

I`m sure you can build a rifle just as good ,,don`t know what it would cost though,,

Gonna be hard to beat the R15's. The main problem is gonna be getting one of the guns down to the weight you are wanting. With a scope.

I`d guess mine with a 5 round mag and 3.5-10x50 Leupold is around 8 pounds or less,,it feels real good after carryin the 25-06 thats for sure

Well, I may put this off for awhile now.

Ran across a blue and wood 700 BDL .243 in very good shape can probably get for less than a stripped lower and Timney trigger.

Gonna have my SO buddy who is a skilled 'smith cut a fresh, target crown on the barrel, stick a Leupy on top and see what she'll do.

Thanks for the input, y'all.
