It's necessary if you want to shoot Blackhorn 209. Turns that 700 into a awesome gun.

Which conversion allows BH209? Mine with the factory conversion kit does not seal the primer. Is there one that does?

The one that Hunter sells on Dougs Message Board is compatible with BH209. It comes with a different breech plug as well. It has to be installed. If you are decent with tools, you can do it yourself. If not, he will install it on your bolt for a fee. I've done several, not that hard if you take your time and are a little mechanically inclined.

It seals most of the blowback out, and eliminates the need to take the bolt apart and clean it. I still break mine down once a year and clean it, but there is never much in there. The factory bolt insides are nasty after only a few shots.

That one, I may check out, but not the factory one or cabelas one.

Yep, the factory one and the cabelas one are junk.

BigD i'm interested in this conversion on my Rem 700 as well. Let me know how it goes. Pretty sure I could do it myself as i've taken the bolt completly apart before.

No problem, i'm in no hurry either. Already got mine sighted in for this year and don't want to change anything. Would like to get it done in time for next year though.

I've done 4 of them, not that hard just have to take your time. I will try to get some pics up when I can. If Remington would have designed them this way to begin with, they would still be on the store shelves. Just no comparison.

If you google it. Where ratsnakeboogy (i think) did his and posted pics comes up

I can't take credit for the pictorial, fishhawk on Doug's Message Board took those pics. But that's how it's done.
