Anyone have experience with this model?

The stock is cheap and flimsy, the scope is junk, and the finish on the metal will rust easy. Other than that they are a great rifle, and I am a Remington man. Find you an older Remington 700 and you will be much more pleased.

I have one from 1986 I believe. Its a Rem 700 action with a blind magazine. I've killed a bunch of deer with it using 105, 100, and 95 grain partitions. Switching over to 90 gr Accubonds this year.

In 2012 Trigger gave me some trouble. I sonic cleaned it and afterwards it was froze up solid. When I tried to muscle it something failed inside. Had to get new trigger.

The rifle is accurate-very accurate.

Nowhere have I have ever seen a Remington 700 for $297. I just bought one in .243 for my daughter to use on the youth deer hunt this year. If she doesn't like it, I will send to Chad Dixon at LRI to be rebarreled as a .260. When compared to a Savage Axis, Remington 770, etc., I look at it as a bargain.

I consider the scopes that come on "Package Guns" to be junk that should be removed ASAP unless money is really tight or hunting season is too close to get good scope on the gun in time. I keep one such scope in the truck seat for deer viewing when I'm driving by a field and see one I want a closer look at.

Even having said that, if you can get this 700ADL for $297, jump on it! I have a FFL myself and paid $350 for one of the original 700ADL's back in 1990 when buying it direct from a wholesaler.

I would say yes to everyone but the Savage packages with the Nikon Scopes. They are not top of the line Nikon but are the prostaff model which is pretty great for a package gun.

I would have to agree that a Nikon scope sold on a package gun should be good enough to use and leave on the gun permanently. As a "Bottom of the line" model, I'm sure it wouldn't be real bright but should maintain point of impact and sork for years. When I think of Package deer rifles, I think of the $29.99 Tasco or Bushnell scopes and that makes me cringe! :)

That was a good deal for you, DA. Might be a good way for a gun nut to keep himself in shooting supplies for free. Buy up all these cheap bolt guns when on sale, do a quick glass bedding job and work up a load that "Wow's" your buddies then sell the guns for a good markup!
