I went to the range the other day and took out my new to me rem 700 223. I plan on reloading but have not gotten the chance so I bought several different brand and weights of manufactured ammo. The 55gr bullets shot great. They shot under MOA. I shot some 69gr and 77gr bullets but had to quit because I could not hit paper and could not figure out where they were hitting at 100 yds. It was almost as if I were shooting blanks. I was kind of hoping to shoot some heavier bullets. Anyone had any luck with heavier bullets out of a similar setup?

The twist may not shoot over 64g or so.its all about the twist my AR is a 9 and prob wont shoot any thing past 65g very well.only 1 way to find out

Your PSS is probably a 1/12 twist. It will not stabilize the heavier bullets and they are key holing. Stick with 55 grain bullets and you should be good to go. I had a SPS Tactical with a 1/9 twist and it would shoot up to 70 grain bullets with no problem.

I think Remmy has changed the twist rate quite a bit in their .223 lineups.

My PSS has a 1/9 twist. Hate to say it, but I bought it 5 or 6 years ago, and still haven't fired it once. For $550, I just couldn't pass it up, even though I didn't need it.
