Reduce to 56-58 grains and you still should push either of those two bullets 2500 fps.lungpuncher1":1fq5rcyf said:I have imr 4198. You think that matters?Roost 1":1fq5rcyf said:Yep..... Most of us shoot 60gr of h4198 with that bullet/sabot combo
Anxious to hear results of shooting sabot through muzzle break. Hopefully it won't be an issue, keep us posted on how things go. Good luck!lungpuncher1":1u4ip18d said:I've decided to go with the 195 barnes or the 200 sst with a hlb sabot.
My brake is .480 so I'm thinking with the extra .03" I'll have enough room. We shall see. I do have a thread protector to remove the brake if i need to though.Andy S.":298pk3sr said:Anxious to hear results of shooting sabot through muzzle break. I have same setup as you so I hope it works flawlessly. On a different note, how much did thread protector cost? I sent Jeff a text this morning and asked him, but no response yet. Just wondering....lungpuncher1":25cbtdue said:My brake is .480 so I'm thinking with the extra .03" I'll have enough room. We shall see. I'm actually getting bestill to make me one. I thought i could go the easy route and get one off ebay for 10$ but it didn't fit as its some kind of crazy metric thread. It was 20$ though from bestill off Doug's. As far as i know it's going to be stainless also.Andy S.":1b4wrvpu said:I have same setup as you so I hope it works flawlessly. That's pretty bad i wrote him a check, put his name on a box and i dont remember his real name lol.Andy S.":2affk0d3 said:Gotcha, bestill's real name is Jeff. I'm sure he'll text back in a bit. Thanks for the info.
Here is the good part: his "official" name that you put on the check is Todd, but he goes by Jeff. I had to clarify that when I sent him funds to do my conversion. Fun times! :tu:lungpuncher1":1b1q0pgi said:That's pretty bad i wrote him a check, put his name on a box and i dont remember his real name lol.
What load you starting with?lungpuncher1":ipgqqcm2 said:I have some powder charges weighed up ready to shoot.
I have 195be, 200 sst and some 275 parker be but i think I'm going to start with 195be, hlb, 55-60gr of imr4198 and fed 209a. I really like what I've heard about the 195s on deer. Im a hunter not a target shooter.Andy S.":bq8k9ae0 said:What load you starting with?lungpuncher1":bq8k9ae0 said:I have some powder charges weighed up ready to shoot.
You ever get ahold of Jeff about a thread protector?Andy S.":21sfmc4n said:What load you starting with?lungpuncher1":21sfmc4n said:I have some powder charges weighed up ready to shoot.
Yep, got it and installed it last week.lungpuncher1":no3d4m68 said:You ever get ahold of Jeff about a thread protector?
10-4, I plan to first try 200gr SST, HLB, 60gr H4198 & FED209A. Also have some N120 that I may experiment with. If that combo does not work, may try some sabotless loads and see what kind of results I get.lungpuncher1":qo612ay4 said:......i think I'm going to start with 195be, hlb, 55-60gr of imr4198 and fed 209a.
Same here.lungpuncher1":qo612ay4 said:Im a hunter not a target shooter.
That's my plan.lungpuncher1":qo612ay4 said:Or should i just put a few down the tube and season the barrel?
What's your sabotless plan? I have some 275 be but i think they blow up on short distance shots.Andy S.":136sxtf7 said:10-4, I plan to first try 200gr SST, HLB, 60gr H4198 & FED209A. That was my initial plan, but after reading other's reports from the field about them fragmenting real bad, I can promise you I will not hunt with them. I may punch some paper with the 275 BE (I have sample pack of 15), but I will probably resize some 250 or 300 gr SST and try them sabotless if I go that route. At the end of the day, I want to have an accurate gun that will kill deer out to 200-250 yards, and I want two holes in my deer.lungpuncher1":33szyb4g said:What's your sabotless plan?
