Hey Stik, with the wma's being bonus deer you can still kill around 5 or 6 bucks in east tn. and if you are like me, wma's and other public land is all I have to hunt and I average 3 to 4 deer a year here in Monroe county. If you ask a private land owner to hunt they look at you like they could kill you so the buck limit don't matter to me, I hunt public land

draw hunts are bonus bucks. i get drawn every other year. for ONE buck.

I knew that stik.

You were with the Agency for a long time. In your opinion is this a god thing for the state? The herd? Or was it done to please a certain group of hunters? Very curious your thoughts since you know lots more about the ins and outs than many of us. Thanks.

I think a Unit L License holder should have to pay more for their License than a Unit A or B holder.

Wow! I thought the hunting license was for the whole state, not by unit. Guess you learn something everyday. [emoji14]oke:
I wish it was by the unit

Why would you have not bought one and why would you have to stop hunting if you kill 2 bucks before rifle season? There is anterless hunts all over Unit B during rifle season.

I purchased my lifetime this year as well, paid just as much as everyone else even though us "unit L" hunters dont have bears. I was also aware that seasons and bag limits would change accordingly....what about those fisherman that bought their lifetime license thinking shell crackers would never have a limit?

1 week in Morgan county and the last 2 weeks of the season in Loudon county. otherwise it's BUCK ONLY!!! and the season is over for those who don't buy another permit.

You have to buy another permit to kill antlerless deer in unit L otherwise it's BUCK ONLY there also.

I simply don't understand the question about buck limits. I'm personally in favor of one. If someone wants meat for the freezer, a doe is just as good, if not better. Antlers are hard to tenderize.

What most of you don't understand is that the majority of hunters want further restrictions on bucks, why would anyone want to kill 3 yearling bucks?

If it makes them happy who are you to judge what another hunter shoots? I still don't believe in the majority crap. I think their minds were done made up.

That is the true underlying reason for all the push for reductions. The ones who think everyone (unit B folks) were killing all of the unit L "babies" and those with leases who had no control over their neighbors. Next will be point restrictions. Watch and see.
As for the unit L not wanting unit B hunters, that's been made clear on here many times. I'm betting you will start to see more of them now. Especially during gun if B people have tagged out on bucks. Well, those who can afford to travel.

with the upcoming buck limit reduction, i will no longer need a gun permit if i kill 2 bucks before gun season. or i may quit bow hunting. i want a refund on my recently purchased lifetime license.

Has to be one of the worst post ever on Tndeer and you should apologize in my opinion. I have been hard on the TWRA a few times and I still disagree with some things they do and the way some regs are written (more strongly than you do about the buck limit) and I for sure do not agree with one of the main guys. But for the most part I DO support the TWRA and follow all the rules whether I agree with them or not, and overall they do a great job. The officers I talk to are great and work what seems like all the time. I don't have a lifetime license, I get a sportsman license every year, but I sure would not ask for money back because they made a change in a regulation. If you kill 2 bucks before gun season, why blame the TWRA? To me, that is part of being an adult, abiding by the rules and laws and if you disagee with them, then work to change them. Heck to me, if I was fortunate enough to kill 2 bucks that I wanted kill before gun season, I would be happy as I could be and get ready for the next year's season.

this was not meant to bash TWRA at all. i am one of their biggest supporters and consider many of them as friends. it is no longer economically feasable if i no longer need a bow or gun license.

This is a good point I am not a life time license holder but I buy my sportsman license every year been doing that for 25 or 30 years. If I new they was going to change it too a 2 buck limit I would just buy a license for what ever weapon I was using that way if I kill 2 before gun I could save money by not buying a gun stamp. So that's what I will do from now on.

You guys are suffering a lot over the price of the license. How would you like to have to pay nearly $300 every year to hunt your own land, that had been in your family since 1948 and is the place where you grew up, simply because you live 7 0r 8 miles across the Alabama border now? :) Compared to me, you're getting a heck of a deal.

Apologize to who Brother? We as citizens foot the bill for TWRA. The big thing everybody says in being "pro" our higher license fees is the fact that we support TWRA in this state and have no outside govt influence unlike other states with lower license fees. Now I think TWRA does as good a job as any other wildlife agency but it is what it is. Stik and other East siders are DONE after they kill 2 bucks unless they can get to a place to kill does. DONE. He never said he wouldn't follow the rules. And as for the hunting experience..I enjoy hunting a lot. Id hate to just be done November 01 and "get ready for next season." The 2 buck limit makes no difference to me. Ive got 2 leases in Unit L counties and we have many does. I do drive 3 hours to get there but that's my choice. But apologize for his opinion and hard earned money he spent. Naw...I don't see it.

Agreed! I was in this situation for 11 years, but farther away. If you are a resident and own land then you hunt for free. If you own land and simply want to hunt during a trip home once a year, then you are out of luck.

First, I am not your brother in any way.

Asking for your money back because of a regulation change that no matter which side you are on affects very few hunters. Also, from all the posts I am seeing from the East Tennessee guys it truly needs to be a 1 buck limit. All I see posted is that your deer population is low in East Tennessee and you want to kill more bucks?
I hunt in KY some and guess what, done after 1 buck. Not a big deal to me and would not be a big deal to be done in Tennessee after 1 buck even if no does were allowed to be killed. Greed is a bad thing.

I notice a lot of the 2 buck supporters jump state to state must be nice to be in another state hunting and letting us that only hunt tn save you a buck to kill for when you get back[emoji6]

Absolutely no problem. Ill be sure to NOT refer to you as brother again. I say that to many folks. Its not meant as derogatory or in a a hole way. But I see this in one or two ways.
1-you think Im being smart by saying brother..or
2-you just really have a nasty attitude.
either way I dont give a rats butt. Have a good one.

Yep I did and enjoyed every bit of it but that was the one and only time I've ever hunted out of state. I'm glad people can afford to do it every year does it but the ones of us that can't get stuck with this 2 buck limit.

Yep.

Heck, some of them don't even live in Tn from what I hear.

Oh, and it's not greed. A single buck can actually breed multiple does during the rut phase. Saving some does while taking an extra buck would go a long way to building the herd population I would think.

Nice reply since you don't "care".
Yep, sure took your post as being smart, rude, etc. I can guarantee you I would get a timeout or banned if I made the same post. For sure bashing of the TWRA.

Granted TWRA gets no funds from state coffers, but if the Commission (as political appointees) can direct TWRA to give them a proclamation for what they want, instead of following the biologists recommended one that they presented first is not a type of government interference in the organization, I don't know what is.
