Any body fly fish creeks for redeyes (rock bass)? What flies are good for them?

wish I could answer the fly fishing question. I do catch a lot of rock bass on plastics, bitsy minnow, etc. They hit a lot of stuff

Pretty much any crawfish imitation with some weight to hop across the bottom will work - I usually use about the same flies for redeye and creek smallies that I do for carp.

I occasionally tie a long black fly with dumbell eyes, rubber legs, and a small rabbit strip that works. I think it looks like a hellgrammite. Wooly buggers are good too.

I concur. I would only add that the dumbell eyes are helpful because it makes the hook point up, so you don't get as many snags. Super Buggers are good. They hang out in or near current. Good luck.

How about any fly that you care to put on! Maybe one with a little bit of bulk for durability sake. Otherwise, I've never known of a rock bass not to hit anything that comes within range.

yep

I like using a sinking line and a hair streamer on a short 4' leader. Zoo Cougars and Wooly Sculpins by Kelly Galloup in yellow, brown, olive, or black are my favorites for smallies, largemouths, and redeyes.

Thanks for the replies. Gives me some ideas. I fish creeks in White, Putnam and Overton counties. Lots of redeyes coosas and smallmouth. Always used spinning tackle but have been wanting to try flies.

You ought to wear the longears out also in those waters when you start throwing flies around.
