Anyone have any experience with them?

I noticed they were in my cover crop mix last year. I plan to pickup a few bags tomorrow and put them in the ground in the next few days. Supposed to have good drought tolerance although I don't know if that will be needed the way it is raining in this area.

They are in my blend this year. Only 3lbs per acre drilled, but they seem to be doing really well when you find a plant. They actually look hardier and deeper green leaves than the generic RR beans and Laredo beans. Too large of a plot to tell if they are more or less preferred than the other legumes in the plot.

I'm just not big on doing monoculture plots... if something goes wrong (drill too deep, too shallow, bad seed batch, etc, etc, you end up with a field of just a few of your desired planting, and the rest of the field grown up in weeds. Planting at least 3 things at once almost guarantees something will come up to outcompete the weeds.

Gonna spray a little Select over the top this week to knock out the grass.

These red ripper cowpeas will be 2 weeks old tomorrow.

Deer are getting used to them according to the cam pics but still prefer the eagle beans
