A while back I was approached by a friend and fellow church member who had recently retired. Knowing that I fool around with these kind of things, he said he was wanting to build himself a kit pistol. He then proceeded to show me a picture of one of those eyetalian pistol kits. I opened my mouth and said " why do you want to do that when we could build you a real gun." Welp...I'm gathering up parts and am about to school him through a build. I figure I'll probably do 90 percent of the work but he'll be tickled to death. Should be fun.

Re: Pistol "kit" for fellow church goer(update)

Thought I'd check in on this since it's been awhile. We haven't been to get together as often as we first anticipated and since he wanted to witness the progress this is where we are. We've actually come a ways as you can see. The barrel with drum installed has been inlet and pinned to the stock and the lock is in. Today I started on the trigger inlet and after it's in and all tied together you'd be real close in being able to shoot it.

It's been awhile. My buddy had some issues such as back surgery, etc that's slowed us up quite a bit. Well anyway here's where we stand at present. A little polishing, sanding, and applying a finish and we'll be good to go. The barrel was an old salvage in good shape. I thought it was a .40 but it turned out to be a .38.

I think it turned out great. It looks real good and your buddy should be proud of it. I hope he gets over his back surgery.

You have done well and rewarding for sure.
I like the brass inlay touch and especially the trigger curl.

looks excellent! Beautiful wood.

I KNOW what you mean about surgery. Just had my C3 -4-5-6 Fused and then 7 & 8 cleaned up. Bending over really sucks

That's pretty cool! I wish I had the sense to build something like that!

Post up the final picture when it's done!
