any one try to strip and re plum a barrel ? i'm doing that now . i'm using the birchwood casey plum. so far it has been in the oven twice at 275* coated the barrel .cooled then used 000 steel wool to lightly buff . some spots did not cover so back in the oven applied a second coating. still thin in spots. back into oven third time i'm waiting to make sure it's at 275* some of the front sight is still very thin. haven't put on third coat on it yet. i sanded the heck out of the barrol. plenty of hot soapy water used a new paper towel to dry between coats. this normal to do more than three applications of plum color?
