Hey heads up to all of you guys that are using Rage and other expandables, you might want to keep an eye on this post in the TWRA section in case you haven't seen it already.

It looks like the Rage 3-blade and the G5 Tekken are being classified as a "barbed" design by the TWRA and deemed illegal. SCN said they are going to try to look at the Rage 2-blade in the coming days.

Glad I shoot Slick Tricks. I know a LOT of hunters using the Rage broadheads though. I've thought all along that the Tekan should be illegal, but the Rage catches me a bit off guard.

It very well may not be. It is obviously barbed from the pictures if the blades don't pivot for retraction. We will try to get some in hand in the near future to see if the two blades lock into position upon impact where they don't meet the barb less criteria.

I wouldn't call the Rage barbed. The 3 blade must fold up different than the 2 blade. You can turn my 2 blade heads upside down and the blades fold up without touching them.

I agree, I dont shoot them but a friend of mine does, I have looked at them and nothing about them would make me think "barbed"

To be fair it was I who said that I thought the Tekkens were illegal. I based that not on word from the TWRA or my knowledge of the broadhead itself. I searched other states with similar laws where this question had been asked and officially answered. The Rage 2 blade is considered legal. The Rage 3 blade and Tekken are both considered illegal.

I feel about the same way, I can't afford to spend $40 then just have to throw them away, some of you might be able to but I sure can't

Who said we're buying hype. I've seen first hand what these broadheads can do. I don't consider that hype, rather first hand experiance. Glad you like yours, but you have no business judging others for what they decide to buy.

I intended to buy a pack of 2 blade Rage BHs this year because I've seen the devastation and I really want to try them out. I'll wait for TWRA's ruling first, but I hope they're not deemed illegal.

I agree, I have lost a few deer with muzzys and thunder heads but I have never lost one shot with a rage. I think the people who are against them just cant accept the fact they are not shooting a fast enough bow, cant shoot well, or just have a bias because they actually perform like they say they do. "its like throwing a axe through an animal" lol

My broadhead does what it suppose to do period 33 dollars cheaper.

If you are checked with an illegal broadhead in your quiver, you would be in violation-for what it's worth ahead of time.

I just found out it's illegal to hunt from a vehicle. I just bought a brand new gun rest for my truck so I'm gonna use it anyway.

Just found out that I can't use that new feeder I bought to hunt over. Already bought it so I'm gonna use it.

Just found out that the deer hunt I had planned next weekend is a week to early. Already planned so I'm going anyway.

Just shot a nice buck but whoa look at that one! He's better so I'm going to shoot him too. Nobody's going to see me I'll check them online on different days.

Luckily it appears the Rage 2 blades are legal. If they weren't though I'd throw mine out. If you know you are breaking the law and choose to do it anyway you are willingly breaking the hunting laws. Why not just poach, all the same. If it's a financial thing...new broadheads are cheaper than the new Bow you'd have to buy when yours gets confiscated for using illegal equipment. It's only 40-80$ depending on how many packages you have to buy and most of us spend that much on new gadgets anyway. Man up and be a legal hunter. Feel good about yourself and don't have to worry walking out of the woods.

Just doesn't seem fair that the TWRA can change something this close to start of the season because it won't be in the book. I think many of us needed more of a heads up. Also I think it's getting to the point that there needs to be a list of illegal heads in the book if they are going to start splitting hairs. Seems that so far there is no black and white, just a gray area. And i think leaving it up to the individual officer is BS too. It's either illegal or its legal. Either way it's a little late to put it in the book, and until it's in the book it aint official. Think of how many guys that don't hang out on here but do read the book could be screwed by this. If it isn't in the book it won't stand IMO. You have to state the law CLEARLY before enforcing it. my 2cents. Either way it appears from the link posted at the begining of this thread that the 2 blade rage heads will be legal so I'll be good anyway.
