Is there a variety of radish that does better? If so where do I find them and when do you plant them? Is cereal rye available at the co-op? Thanks

Cereal rye should be available come late summer. Personally, I've had very good luck with "Wintergrazer" elbon rye (cereal rye).

I've not used radishes, but have used many types of brassicas. My favorites are Purple Top Turnip and Dwarf Essex Rape.

Most radishes are similar, but have different names - ecotill, daikon, groundhog, etc....Radishes will grow a deep tap root in the ground. The deer absolutely love the greens before the first frost.

Yep - cereal rye will be at co-op late summer. I had to call every day last year to make sure they had it, because it was all bought up soon after it got there.

I planted daikon radishes last year and they did well . I planted them too thick but it worked out and the deer seem to like them. Those pictures are mid October
