Quietest opening day I've ever experienced.

In Fayette I've heard 2 distant shots. Seen nothing so far. It's foggy, warm, and dripping so much it might as well be raining. Hoping things pick up as the morning progresses.
I've been noticing the same around my area the last few years as well. It used to sound like a firing range on opening day, but now 6 or 7 shots all morning is all I hear.
Fog has mostly lifted here now. I did hear one way off rifle shot about 30 minutes ago and that's been it. Pretty quiet compared to years past.
I've heard about 10 shots , most by 6:30. I haven't seen a thing.
It's rut. Weather doesn't matter to the deer, only the hunter. Yall stick with it. As the fog clears they'll get moving. If there wasn't much movement this morning then it should be doubly good this afternoon. Kill some big ones!

Won't be out until tomorrow but during 5 days of muzzleloader I heard only a handful of shots.
From light until probably 45 minutes after light watched 3 does and a fawn feeding on acorns. Two went to our bigger clover plot and the other two went to our smaller plot. Haven't seen anything since they left the plots about 20 minutes ago.
Wife is sitting down in the woods, stand I used to always try to hunt opening day and she hadn't seen anything yet the last time she text me.
Camera activity here is also dead.

From what I've seen the rut started early this season. There was some great chasing happening around 25 October.

Sun is out here, and fog is lifting. The wind is laying down which is nice. I'm taking a gamble with a quartering wind on a proven travel route on a ridge coming from a thick fallow bottom.
One big lone doe so far. She had a come-hither look about her. Hopefully she has some takers.

Same here. Still out though. Shouldn't be too long here before doe fawns start getting their first cycle.
I'm at home due to no buck tags but did hear the ol familiar road hunter shoot one.

Neighbors on my east fence line have shot 4 already this morning. I think they have 5 or 6 folks stacked right on my line on that tiny 20 acre block

Extremely frustrating!
That's exactly what I saw yesterday morning. 5 bucks, one of which was a shooter, cruising and 3 of them were chasing a doe fawn who was enjoying the game. Yesterday morning was warm, drizzly, and foggy until after 8am.

5 shots heard so far and no deer seen. Never seen an opener like this
That's tough. I'd be planting bamboo along the border so thick deer can't go through it.
