I'm trying to get a one day trip together to fish the Caney. Doing a little research, I have found that there are several access points to the river. I will be strictly wade fishing while there. Are any of these access points any better than the other for wade fishing? Thank you for any help.

I've only wade fished at the dam and at Happy Hollow. I liked Happy Hollow more as far as access. As best I can remember there was plenty of room and plenty of fish. The dam was a success as well, however the water was a bit high when I was there and I had to do some climbing over rocks and stumps to expand the area I could fish.

Betty's Island is great as well. As is Happy Hollow. The dam is alright, but footing feels worse with the rocks, but not bad. Here lately there has been alot of generation, so be sure to check the TVA website before you go to wade.

if your talkin about the tailwaters of the caney...you dont want to wade it now, the water is high. they turned the generators off recently and pulsing got the fish all dazed and confused. wading the cany is for summer time when its shallow

Happy Hollow gets really crowded so if you're going on the weekend, avoid that area completely. Betty's Island gets less pressure, an even better spot is the Kirby Road access area. It's quite a drive out there but very low fishing pressure. The constant generation should stop soon as Center Hill is approaching its winter levels.
