Question for Remington 700 Experts

I inherited a Rem 700 ADL 7mmMag a few years ago. I refinished the stock recently and will have the metal inspected and re-blued soon. I'm also considering several optics choices (Leupold or Zeiss). My ultimate goal is to make it an all-around deer rifle and perhaps take it out West for some long-range mule deer and/or elk hunting.

Out of curiosity, I was wondering if anyone could tell me when the gun was manufactured. I checked the Remington Society website but I can't make sense of the code. Any takers?

Looks like July of 1974 to me with the pressed in skipline checkering dating it to that era. Barrel code is 'OY', the U and 90 are inspection marks. PH

Besides re-bluing, are there any other options you recommend i consider?

Try contacting Remington, and give them the serial #. They will let you know when it was made. I also have a Remington 700 ADL 7mag.
