Well I ordered a new Encore frame and today when I got the call to come pick it up we proceeded to do the background check. On December 18 2013 I was arrested for DUI and possession charges ...none being a felony charge...Court has been delayed for the 4th time until the 17th of November, though meanwhile I had attended rehab and am proud to say I am clean to this day! I was wondering if anyone has any experiences with being denied a firearm? I haven't been denied as of yet, I should find of by wed of next week.

My buddie was denied due to a pending court date for a dui and child endangerment, all the charges got dropped after court but he was able to purchase with no problem after. I dont know if it was the dui or child endangerment that kicked it out.

Ive been doing a little research and most cases that are denied are due to violent type crimes there for i would say it was the child endangerment. In my case on the form is states " Are you an unlawful user, addicted to, Marijuana, depressant, stimulant, narcotic, or any other controlled substance?.... Since I haven't been convicted of a crime relating to this, i feel like I should be ok....hopefully

Thank you guys very much! It all happened do to an injury i acquired while playing college baseball and a doctor put me on something i shouldnt have been on but as far as being clean its amazing. This deer season has helped me to remember exactly why I enjoy the outdoors....just to watch the woods come alive is a true blessing and a reminder of how great our great creator is...

Hang in there brother sounds like you are on the right track. Good luck this season.

Glad to hear your clean. That is great! My brother is a recovering addict. He has fell off the wagon a few times over the tears but is clean now and has been for over a year. He had runs of 7, 3 and 4 years clean. It is a life long battle. Keep hanging on to that wagon!!!

Best of luck this season!!!

Remember when we fail GOD is able to pick us up don't know if you live for the LORD if you don't ask HIM to forgive your sins and to come into your heart and live for HIM best thing that ever happened to me now I can lay down at night and sleep without worry GOD is GREAT!!!!

Thanks everyone for the encouraging comments! I really appreciate all the feed back... I have really found that not being ashamed of my past makes me stronger and allows me freedom therefore I am trying to make my past positive by sharing my story and getting younger kids involved with the out doors... I know I am still young being only 25 but I know it's a life long battle. Through The Lord all things are possible... And it's now something I try to live by each day! Once again thanks everyone for the feedback... Even though I don't know all of you personally I really enjoy the unity of the members of this site... God bless and wishing a safe and successful season to all

Glad to hear of your success in a new gun purchase but more importantly your new turn on life. Sounds like you are making leaps and bounds and that is something to be proud of, kuddos to you. We ALL make mistakes but it those who learn from our mistakes who should hold our heads high and look toward helping others.
Keep on keepn on !
