I want to try this year spraying, wait a week, spread, then mow. Concerned about spraying gly on my clover blooms, I know this is killing bees, I probably should mow first?

Why are you trying to kill the clover? What crop are you planning to plant for the summer plot? I'm not a beekeeper and I didn't sleep at a holiday inn last night but I have researched it a little. I'd be more concerned about neonics that come on pretty much any commercial corn or bean seed. I think there's a lot of other things going on with bees than just glyphosate but it's an easy target.

I prefer a nice green plot in winter over clover when there are plenty of food, thats my preference. I only have atv and homemade disc so relly need most of vegatation gone

Leave the clover growing and just spread wheat in with it. I usually do this every fall but use oats instead. Works great!

I'm with this guy- sow wheat and maybe scratch it in. I'd probably spray triclopyr if if absolutely had to be rid of clover. Glyphosate can be weak on established perennial clovers.

Or is there a spray to kill everything but clover?

Yes, Clethodim....well, it doesn't kill broadleaf (so all grasses but does not kill anything broadleaf). We used it on our clover last year and worked great

I searched for it, wow that stuff is expensive!

Yes it is. If you ever plant soybeans that aren't round up ready, you can spray with this after it's sprouted. That's my plan for the rest of our $115 2.5 gallon jug

Clethodim is more expensive per gallon but that's irrelevant. What matters is the cost per acre. With an application rate of 6-16 oz per acre, you get 20 acres of chemical at max rate for that $120- about $6/acre. If you can plant clover that cheap, I've got some work for you.

You can also use imazethapyr or butyrac for some broadleaves in clover but you need to know your weeds and spray early. Also, imazethapyr is soil active and will kill lots of plantings if you spray several months even before planting. Always read the label before you spray.
