I sold my Knight Wolverine to a friend. The gun has always operated with no problem. It was very clean when I gave it to him the other day.

He called and said it had hang fired 6 times and shot good once.

This gun still shoots caps.

I wonder...........Would shooting 777 pellets have anything to do with it??? I always shot Pyrodex pellets.

Also, I think I was shooting #10 caps and he has #11 and it's an aftermarket nipple I put on it. He said the #11 won't go all the way down on the nipple. I'm wondering if that nipple requires #10 caps and that is why I was shooting them.

I haven't shot this thing in 3 years but a friend hunted with it for those years with no problems. That's my problem, I can't remember everything about it.

Except it was flawless for 8 years with me.

I bet the caps aren't hot enough for the 777 pellets. A buddy of mine had the exact same luck with 777 pellets in his wolverine with # 11 caps. It fired about 3 out of 5 tries. Pyrodex pellets always shot fine in both mine and his.

BTW, you know me as CD down on aldeer. Howdy. TRHC.

I with TRHC. The triple seven pellets require a pretty good flame to ignite. He could put a musket cap nipple on it and use musket caps and may be okay. Or use triple seven FFFg loose powder with the no 11's. JMO

your not supposed to use pellets in a sidelock gun,we used some pyrodex several times but had a couple of slow or no fire at the range, loose powder will go all the way to the port,mike243

That's the problem. I always shot two 50gr Pyrodex pellets in this gun with absolutely 0 problems. I never once shot loose powder in this gun.

That's why I'm wondering if the 777 is harder to ignite, therefore misfiring.

I put a musket cap nipple on my Knight when I started using pellets. Never had a problem afterwards. The 777 is harder to ignite.
