Probably a dumb scope question

Most scopes I am used to using have 2 knobs. 1 on top and one on the rh side. I see several scopes that also have the knob on the LH side. What is the knob on the lh side for?

to adjust parallex instead of it being on the bell at the end it is now on the side

Yep paralex and some it's an illumiated reticle switch.

That does make a little more sense. I just couldn't think of any other adjustment you could make on a scope besides up and down, right and left. What do they call that 3rd knob, in case I run across one in Cabelas or somewhere else I may be interesteed in.

most catalogs simply state it as side focus or side parallex adjustment
