Hey guys, brand new here. Got a question. I was in Murfreesboro Outdoors the other day and saw a brochure about some new photography company here in town that will travel out to where you killed your deer at and do a photo shoot with you there. Was wondering if anybody else had heard anything about them or used them for any other photography service. They said this was their first year offering this to hunters. I got a couple good deer im after this year and will probably have them on speed dial if they check out and depending on what yall have to say too I suppose. I know Ive got a couple on the wall that I wish I had a good photographer for. The pictures my buddy took just aint that great.
 
Hmmm. Let me know what they charge. They may have some competition. I wonder, do they clean the deer up and provide taxidermy eyes and towels and windex and various filters to enhance colors? You might ask them some questions like that.

I could probably do it for .50 a mile both ways and $100. That would be for five, 8X10 pictures and five 4x6.
 
As a fellow photographer, that's an interesting proposition. If you decide not to go through with their service, shoot me a pm. If you take a decent picture, I can use my editing software to edit and enhance the picture to your liking.
 
Great idea. I hope they do good. I also hope no meat spoils while a successful hunter awaits the arrival of the photographer.

Having professional pictures of a nice kill would be great.
 
The only drawback to that ide4a, and it sure has some merit, is the time lag between kill and photo. I have won a few photography awards in national competition so I know something about taking pitchers.

Here is something to consider:

When taking grip and grin shots, if you can hang the deer somewhere with the hide on and by the hind legs, he will be much easier to pose the next day. Being field dressed is no problem. Also, proper background does not have to be where you killed him. Trees are trees. Cleaning the deer up, using eyes, and proper shot angle are the keys to good kill pics. And cleaning up applies not just to the deer. Many times I have had to clean the hunter up as well and get him to quit wearing his favorite hat.

Sometimes, you get great shots that are not standard grip and grin. Always keep that in mind when shooting. Often, the human should be the center of attention and the animal seconday.

 
Just buy a camera with a timer or remote control. Almost every point and shoot camera has a timer. Put it on a light weight tripod and have at it. Shots will be fresh and honest, not three days later and "re-created." You can get camera and tripod for under a hundred.
 
My tripod was $49 and works as well as any. Also invest a couple bucks in a set of taxidermy eyes and a bottle of windex and a couple cloth towels. Makes all the differenc ein the world.

However, nothing shot with a timer off a tripod is going to compare with someone shooting like it was a machine gun.

God bless digital cameras. We could not do it with slides.

No sarcasm intended but that is like advertising that if you want, I will drive out and drag your deer out for you and dress it ..................

Have we come so far to digress this much? :( I don't need a professional photographer to take a good pic. I have done quiet well at that myself. with digital, you keep taking pics and enough of them till you get a decent one.....for tips......get the dang deer out of the pick up and spend some time posing it and experimenting with diff positions and light. I am amazed at how many folks just throw it on the ground, or God forbid leave it in the throngs of beer cans and other paraphernalia in the back of the truck and call it a trophy pic!!!! Folks it aint that hard to get a decent pic, but it does take patience. I shoot as many as 30 photos to get a good one!! ;)
