Hey I am new to the area and just wondering when the stripers start running in the stones river up to the dam.

Just making an educated guess don't know how educated because I don't know much about the stones or the priest. But I have caught a lot of stripers, all from a boat, but my boat is kept down at my lake house in Alabama. So this is my first time going after them from the bank and in Tennessee so just looking for a little advice about the area.

Good answer. Depending on weather and water temp and generation schedule. Typically Mid Feb thru Mid to late march sometimes later. It can be difficult to figure out when they are below the dam. A key indicator of the Rockfish and hybrid bite is to make a drive by at the break of dawn. And if the parking lot is full they have most likely been biting for a few weeks.

Good luck. I fish it hard and know many that also do. The stripers and hybrids show up on occasion, but has been a few years since they really showed up. Not sure what has caused the change but it has not been anything like it used to be. There are some who catch them in the summer really well when there is a small amount of generation, but the timeframe for a bite is really short and you have to fend off 20,30,40 or more asians and for the most part they are as rude as it gets. I would fish the lake or the cumberland river.

Thank you for the info it is greatly appreciated. I hope to get lucky and catch a few this spring and summer. I just got my new spinning rig outfitted and ready to go so the itch is starting to grow.
