i have about half and half. i have a food plot between the two about 50yrds wide and 200 yrds long.with a shooting house on the edge of the field. the woods is about 20 acres and a little bit of everything in it .

About the same here. With the acorns starting to drop I like the woods this time of year. Anywhere with a good mast crop is the spot, low visability sure but they are in there.

The rifle shooting nut in me likes wide open fields with a steady rest to shoot from. But there is definitly something missing with all field hunting. About half the time I like actually being in the woods near some oak trees.

I like woods always have . But I will hunt the edges where I could shoot on the field edge. BC during the rut fields will have a bucknon them sooner or later

Right now I'm set up on the edge of a field where it meets the woods surrounded by white oaks that are dropping. Its a natural funnel with a bluff on one side. It worked for me Saturday. Hope it works again.

it takes more precision to pick a spot through the brush than to a huge target like a deer at 350 yards in an open field. After sniping squirrels out the ancients oaks in full foliage all august, sept and Oct., shooting a deer in a field seems ridiculously easy. i prefer thick woods

agree

woods! Only thing I like about fields is seeing deer in them when I drive by fields in the evening. But the deer in the fields came from somewhere else.... the woods. And there are better trails to set up on in the woods. I may hunt fields more often for turkey, but even then I still prefer woods.

Private land- I like to hunt woods but will hunt fields off and on until crops come out.

Public land- I always hunt the woods. Too many people walk up on you in the fields.

Like hunting deep in the hardwoods this time of year or on back side of funnel in woods leading into food plot...
