I'm not sure what to think about this, for better or for worse. Only a proposal but would allow programs to pay athletes directly

Other than changing who is paying them, I don't see how this would change much from how it is now. Right now, most of the money is still ultimately coming from wealthy boosters who pay the athletes NIL $ for marketing, appearances, etc. The few exceptions are those premier athletes that are able to sign with larger corporations. With this proposed change, the school will be paying the athletes; but that money would still be coming from those same wealthy boosters. Same as when the school wants to add on to the stadium, training facilities, etc.; it's paid for by boosters.
