Anybody on here good with ID-ing weeds? Think this might be PA smart weed but I don't know enough to know.

It's a type of smartweed..doesn't look like PA smartweed. I'm no expert but appears to be swamp smartweed.

Any good for the ducks? Don't have a huge amount but there's a pretty good stand of it in one of the fields. It's in a low spot that holds waters after a big rain. Not enough here but if he seed is good I could try & broadcast it's around some spots I hunt.

I would sure think the ducks would enjoy eating it. Also try to find and spread some nodding and Pennsylvania smartweed...they grow tall and produce a bunch of seed.

Good deal thanks for the info. I try to keep my eyes open for different stuff they like, thought this may have been PA but like I said I am no expert.

Not good but great! Some of the duckiest places I've been were full of it.

Good to know! Probably too late to do anything with it this year but I did eventually find some more of it growing here and there around the farm. Will make a more concerted effort to collect some next year

If you are going to try and plant next spring, you will need to gather seeds now and store them in a paper bag in your refrigerator over the winter. Smart weed needs to scarify to become viable. If you wait too long, the seeds will drop naturally and you will have nothing to plant.

Here is another one for y'all? No idea myself. Found it in a low spot in a crop field that had plenty of cockleburrs and some smartweed.

Looks like Perilla which is in the mint family, also called beefsteak plant among other names. If you crush the leaves does it have a strong smell?

I didn't smell it, I should have and will if I come across it again. There was a pretty good amount of it. I was hoping this spot was one that would hold water as it's on a WMA but the manager shot that idea down.
