A buddy sent me this picture.
He said it was a gadwall but I never seen one with a brown belly ?
Anyone know what up with that ?

Doesn't look stained. Look even under the wings. Looks dark under there too

I don't think it is a cross because no other part of the duck looks different then a Gadwall drake. My guess is some kind of pigment change making the white feathers dark for some reason.

Cool duck and I would probably get it mounted.

Agreed. If you keep up with turkey hunting, you've probably seen pics of eastern turkeys with solid black or dark colored primary wing feathers. They aren't melanistic color phase as the rest of the bird looks normal. Just something odd but not unheard of. I'm betting this is the same kind of thing.
