I think I know the answer to this, but given a choice of a 9mm with 7 rounds or a 380 with 15, which would you choose?
That's an easy answer. I'd choose a 45 with 8 rounds cause they don't make a 46.

Yeah, but they do make a .50!

9mm. They penetrate to deep to dig out. Not always the case with a 380.

If those are your only choices, I'd get the Bersa, then choose a good SD round for it. A .380 is more than enough for your average SD situation, they have really improved modern bullets in that caliber. That said, why the single stack XD? A double stack 9mm is not much bigger than a single stack and it greatly improves your round count and choice of bullets.

9mm, or the two presented options.

1. Current FBI statistics are the average CCW person that feels the need to produce their weapon, more times than not are facing multiple attackers.
2. Whatever your skills, ability, experience and giftings are with a pistol, at least....at least.....at minimum.... 40% of that accuracy level will go straight out the window given the physiological changes that occurs in your body, CNS and brain when in a true, real or perceived life or death situation. This is fact presented by the FBI, POST Police trainers and my personal experience. I've been there. Three times now.

In short, if the real deal goes down...you need a round with extra "forgiveness" to put a perp down. Its not a time or place for "adequate" or "sufficient."

Lastly, I'd never bet my or my loved ones life on a Bersa. Oh I'm sure there are numerous very happy Bersa owners. But I'm a full time gunsmith. I practically never am asked to fix XD's or M&p's or Sigs etc etc. But the request to fix "another" Bersa (and Jennings) is one of the most requested tasks in all the grand total of pistol work I do. Not reassuring when thinking of a carry gun.

God Bless,
T

Which ever one you like n can shoot the best..
Cant stop what ya cant hit.

While I prefer the 45.. Carry a 9mm n have a 380.. pick a good load an they are out there..

Seen alot of studies here n there an along the way.. Threat Stoppages. not a lot of differences in round count fired to stop the threat.. between em.

I went from a 40 to a 380 as my primary carry gun for one reason. The 380 is light enough and small enough for me to carry it all the time. A 380 in your pocket beats a 9 left in the truck every day of the week.

Well, I just received my new Springfield XD-E in 9mm. 3.3" barrel, exposed trigger so it can be shot single or double action. Lastly, it has a safety, which was important to me. I just returned from the range and I love it. The pic below shows my full size XD-M 5.25", my sons XD version 2 and my XD-E on the bottom.

The kit came with a soft case, 4 mags and of course the pistol. I bought it thru Grabagun and the transaction was very easy.
