Going to Oklahoma at the end of the month on a wild pig hunt and they have guns to use or we can take our own. If I take a .243 or .270 I'll just use my deer ammo but thinking about the .223. If I go that route what's a good ammo? I shoot fusions in the other 2 so probably start there assuming they make them in .223 (haven't looked yet).

Get you a good head shot with a .223 and they go down right there. Hunted Oklahoma for pigs. Lots of fun and some really good eating. Best time was Jan. -Mar, cold season when ticks aren't so bad. Good luck and have fun. Where abouts in Texas?

I was told wrong. It's a private ranch that a coworker knows about and is in Caddo, OK not Texas.

Flew out last Thursday and hunted that night through Sunday morning before flying home. Way different than anything I've ever done. The guy had 30 cameras up and we'd go out in the morning waiting on something to show then try to get there before the pigs moved off. I killed 1 and shot another that got out of the field but pretty sure died and another guy killed 1. We both misssed another so should've killed at least 4. First time I've hunted with a thermal so that was different. Nice change of pace and I'd do it again.

I'm glad you had a good time! That is a long lanky pig.
