Made it over to Moore Co. to Rutandstrut's place to do some annual bushhogging. It is unreal to see how much stuff grows in a years time.

Just a couple of shots of where our fall plot will be consisting of WW, Oats, and AWP's.

It was a busy weekend, as on Sunday I headed over to the edge of Center Hill lake, and worked up a few spots for some late summer, early fall plots. Pics dont do this spot justice, this hill was steep, when I would turn and go down hill, I kept sliding out of the seat!!

Justin,

Thanks for coming down and cutting my place. I have seen deer in that field every time I've been out there since you cut it. The clover we planted along the woodline of last years plot seems to be thriving now and drawing the deer out.

cool deal man. we usually mow either the last weekend in august or the 2nd weekend in sept. This is in ky so bow season is first weekend of sept. Usually if we mow the 2nd weekend we start on friday and i have dad start on the back on fri so i can hunt there sat morn. Always see a ton of deer coming to the fresh cut grass.

IMO, right now, through the second week of August is the PERFECT time to bushhog fields, assuming you are only cutting once a year and you want to maximize native browse/ regrowth for the deer.

I've told my tenents this past week that it's time to get started on my farms... With average rainfall, most vegetation will be lush and 12"- 30" in height by late October.

I was scared to death that I might run up on a fawn, but after my first pass around the field, one jumped up and ran about 50 yards in front of me!!! I was glad it ran.
