When would be the best time of year to transplant some 5-6 ft persimmon saplings? Also can get some smaller if it would be better to transplant smaller ones.

Haven't moved any trees in a long time but when I was younger I moved several cedar saplings for my grandpa and I did it the last week of January and into February. Out of the 15-20 that I moved only 3 didn't make it. And they were the biggest 3 of the bunch.

Would it be best to dig say a 2' or 3' circle and take dirt and all and replant , or shake the old dirt off the roots once removed and place in "better " dirt when replanting?

A nice Spring rain when ground is soaked. Take a big deep root ball, dig a hole big enough to hold the root ball. Water in hole, set the tree. Must be watered until it takes off.

I hunted a 132 ac. farm in the middle of town in Williamson county in a huge persimmon tree. I could climb it with a Tree Lounge, there were about 100 on this old farm, now its a subdivison.
