I have a sister that just bought a house that is literally 50 yards away from the WMA boundaries bordering the lake. It is not a lake front house, but has about 30 acres+ of woods prior to hitting the water. Looking in the regs, its archery only, correct? It is also close to a nice cove that looks like it would be a great duck spot! Whats the best way to hunt this area, since it is pretty residential, with a few acres of tiber between the houses and the the lake.

Priest wma is a great place. You won't shoot a big buck, but does are plentiful. Ive killed two 8pts in the 120's and more does than i can count over the past 9 years.Lots of hunting pressure there soon as muzzle loader opens up though. Duck hunting the lake is a complete waste of time though, it sucks.

Nearly impossible to find a spot on the bank to hunt opening day which is the best day on that water. People will camp out just to get one... and have hunters show up 30 mind before shooting light and set up 200 yards on each side... lots and lots and lots of duck hunters but no ducks.

Been a while but I shot a 160" class 12 pt on Priest wma back in 1999. You need to hunt the thickets.

Biggest problem with "hunting the thickets" around Percy Priest is that there are no good trees to get up in! So many cedars and scrubby/knobby trees.

You are correct. I used to climb a Sycamore tree that was everything but straight. Was easy climbing up, but very hard getting down. Lol

I answered my own question. I can use a MZ on unit 2, as long as I am 300 yards from a dwelling. So on to the next question, advice on how to hunt the small tract?

it is 100 yds not 300.

Just make sure the area behind her house is part of the WMA. not all the land around the lake is hunt-able. It gets tough this time of year, but there are deer to be had in most places through the first week in Dec. Then you need to find some thick stuff even if you have to hunt off the ground.
