Pee phobia?

According to "The Greatest Deer Hunter" who ever lived, the sound of pee hitting the ground exactly mimics the sound of deer pee hitting the ground the deer will come running in, climb the tree and walk out an a branch to find the source.

Further, deer can tell the sound of doe pee hitting the ground versus buck pee. "HE" said it took him over two decades to be able to mimic the sound of doe pee. Once he could, he killed at least six B&C bucks a year. He claimes it is all in the angle of the dangle.

I don't go through the trouble I do to leave no footprint to stink up the place unless I have too.

Sometimes you got a do what you got a do. I'm getting older and a good pee is hard to pass up. :)

You are right. The wind does have to be right. Never piss into the wind. Otherwise, if you give it some thought, it makes no difference. Either they smell and it attracts them during the rut or they can't smell it and it doesn't matter when it is.

But now farts, especially on damp, calm days, will cloud and hang just under nose level. I've seen mine make blackbirds drop like stones and have heard coons and possums puking. I don't know about deer, though?

Nothing like letting one sneak out on a cold day. Then having the fart that could end a marriage rise through your clothing and out through the neck of your jacket...

Way down yonder in the Indian Nation
Where I first learned urination
In those Oklahoma Hills where I was borned

The sound of pee a'hittin the leaves
Brought them running through the trees
In those Oklahoma Hills where I was borned.

All it takes is a little background in chemistry and some thought. Once they were able to make synthetic estrogen, they quit using horse urine to collect it for human women type ladies. That should tell you something.

Right bSK?

Woody would be turning over in his grave...What part of "you ain't right" didn't you understand?

Never have used a pee bottle and never will! It hasn't hindered my from killing and seeing many mature bucks every season.

BSK,
Me too. During NOVEMBER! Maybe even December.

But in places like AEDC, Prentice Cooper, and many other places out of State like SNF, I can't count the number of negative reactions I've witnessed.

I've been peeing from my stand for a long time, even back when I still bow-hunted. I've never once seen a negative reaction at any time of year to my urine. Now urine can contain many chemicals, and can transmit everything from medicines we take to the food we eat. So I would guess that it's not out of the question that something in an individual's urine could spook deer.

I wonder, if we ate a steady diet of white oak acorns, would our farts attract deer?

Then, if we conbined that with slanted peeing, would they think it was a group of deer? Now add cohesive faily sounds and you might attract another family group.

But, would it be safe in hog country? How about around bears or mounting loins?

Ohhh, you're talking about slanted peeing. Well that's a completely different matter... ;)

Toxic to humans in large quantities...so..unless deer visit the local hospital, not an option

But we would adapt, Coach. See, in evolution, things change. In less than 10,000 years, we would have the slanted peeinmg down to a science. We could do it to the extent it could be age specific. Some could actually become slantoriums and would live in colonies knowns as slantatoriums. They would get their pee schedules coordinated and could actually form pissonamus committeimus comitatus. Done properly, it might attract all the deer in Europe to come here.

We would live on nuts to extent, we might even become one. Or, maybe at least grow some.

Shot my personal record biggest buck about two minutes after peeing a healthy stream out of the tree stand... he came stomping into the clearing blowing and looking around and was on the ground shortly afterward.

The Native Americans of the West Coast ate acorns in large quatities (they ground them to make acorn flour). They poured boiling water through the ground acorn mash to leach the tannic acid out of it.

It just depends on how bad I have to go. Most of the time I don't do it anywhere near where I'm hunting but if it comes to climbing down or hanging over the bar, well I feel it's less of a disturbance to just go. Women can't hit a bottle. And I ain't buying no adapter... Lol. So it's out of the stand or climb down walk 100 yards or more or just go.

Tried the peeing in scraps idea several years ago and the scraps have never been visited by a deer since. Won't do it again. Just seems that if we work so hard at scent control that we would intentionally pee near where we hunt.

I have never carried a pee bottle in 19 years of deer hunting. I pee whenever and wherever I want in the deer woods. I also initiate and freshen up scrapes by peeing in them. I have captured some very nice bucks on these scrapes shortly after initiating them, just as many others on here have over the years.

I'd love to know how many of you pee'ers are hunting in HOT, DRY weather, prior to chasing activity (probably November), but AFTER the first ten days of hunting season, on high pressured ground?

Also, I'd love to know how many of these same pee'ers are killing deer at ranges WITHIN 20 yards of their tree?

Because WE, as a group of about TEN, hard core hunters, primarily fit into this aforementioned category, and have had poor results peeing from stand. EXCEPT in rutty times, like November/early December.

Also, I have definitely seen MANY more negative responses from mature does, than ANY bucks, who tend to more closely examine the pee during rutty times.

I submit, that during gun season, I too, would observe fewer negative responses.

I feel like a dope. I've always carried a pee bottle - 32 oz Powerade bottle is my container of choice. I guess after hearing all this that last season was my last time toting a bottle. I'm going for it. Next time you see me in the tree I might be commando giving new meaning to the golden arches.
