Pear pollination question

Does the tree have to next to each other? If not, how far apart can they be? For example; I plant a Keifer in one location and plant a Bartlett 100 yds away, will they pollinate?

Do they pollinate by Bee�s or by wind?

Also, what about pruning?

If you are pruning for fruit, the old adage of "leave enough room between branches to throw a live cat through" is a good one. It makes an ugly tree, but you get alot of fruit.

i am not sure about the polinator, but why not double up and plant one of each at two locations 100 yds apart?
