Great deer, congrats. That 7 year old would be a great trophy. I would love to kill a deer that old, no matter what the antler size is.

Is that because you know how to age that well or are you doubting him?
Neither. It is because I want to see what a 7 year old jaw bone looks like. :)

I guess you can age them by how they "look". First I've heard of this. ;)

You can't tell the difference from a young deer vs an old deer by the way he looks? You better inform the rest of the deer hunting community.

On the hoof in Oct, Nov and Dec, yes I can for the most part. Laying on the ground field dressed, no. Maybe you should inform me and the rest of the hunting community on how to go about it.

There is a lady that processes our deer for us and she said it was 6 1/2-7 yrs old. She used his teeth to age him, i will try to post pics soon.

Thanks HC. I was in no way "doubting you" as others here have implied. I have seen first hand several jaw bones from TN does that were 6.5+ but never seen one from a free ranging TN buck; thus the reason I said I would love to see it. Look forward to seeing the pic!

And I would like to apoligize. After re-reading your post I read it wrong. Sorry for my mistake. :)
