Just got my soil test back, I need 3 tons of lime per acre. OUCH! My food plot is only an acre, but dang. And I cannot get a truck in there.
 
It will take a recomended 3 tons to get your ph level to neutral(7.0). You can have nice plots with a ph level between 6.0 and 6.5. Do what you can afford to do!! Don't break the bank!! When i started out, i did 1500lbs lime in the spring and planted buckwheat to help build the soil. In the fall, i added in another 800 lbs lime and planted cereal grains and some annual clovers. After that i would add in around 500 lbs once or twice a year, worked good and maintained around 5.8 to 6.2 ph. I now have that in perennial clovers.
