The Great Corn Desert, Indiana
I finally connected on my property here in Indiana. I haven't had a chance to hunt much in the evening since my job has me at work some nights. But, I was off today, hunted this morning, and missed a doe... Came out, and walked back to the house to get a bite to eat. Went out at lunch, and saw a small 6 pointer that I let walk. Went back to the house around 2, and decided to give it a go around 4 and hunt til dark. Around 6, I had another small buck and a doe behind me, and while watching them 60 yards away (which happened to be within bow range of another treestand) I caught a doe off to my left. After watching her for 20 minutes or so, I finally got a clear shot. Double lung shot and she ran about 40 yards and dropped. First deer from my new home... Thank God for a quick and humane kill. She wasn't huge, by any means, but I am thrilled.

The best part of the evening was my entire family WALKED from the house, brought my tractor and cart, and everyone grabbed some of my gear and my 9 year old drove the deer back to the barn in a Deere! Memories...

Oh, and 2 months ago, I switched to Muzzy 3 blades. I'm a believer. The broadhead passed completely through, stuck in the ground, and after cleanup, the tip and blades were like new!
Yearling corn fed doe, Yummmmm!!!

My first thought was "Man that's one tiny deer!"

Congrats!

LOL
She isn't huge, but she dressed almost 85 lbs. Looks smaller, but that's Indiana for you... I guess not too bad for a yearling doe...I shot one at Oak Ridge last year that was 5 1/2 yrs old. She dressed at 84 lbs. I am looking forward to some nice tenderloins regardless.

And, my 9 year old daughterwanted me to carve off a piece of meat, so I cut off some of one of the hams, and she puts salt and pepper on it, and cooks in on an open fire with a roasting stick. A bit smoky, but absolutely delicious. I love that girl!
