It is impossible to load a second round without swabbing it. I have the 28" stainless fluted barrel and shoot 250gr Shockwaves and 100 grains 777 (pellet). It leaves a residue ring right about where the load sets in the barrel.

I love the gun it shoots great but it almost cost me a deer when the second load would not go all the way down

Not trying to be a smart @$$ but why not just swab between shots? I keep moist patches in a zip lock bag and I'll do a quick swab between shots in the field. Only takes a couple seconds.

Biggest buck of my life with 1 round in him and he is looking at me and has just laid down. Acc pack under my seat. I was trying for as little movement as possible and even without swabbing it it took what seemed like 15 minutes

triple 7 creates a crud ring after each shot that MUST be swabbed out with a damp patch between each shot. A hotter primer will make it worse.

The Winchester 777 primers help tame it as they are a COOLER primer, but its still best to swab and make sure its seated on the powder.

Shooting loose powder wont help.

Use pyrodex or Blackhorn 209. I had the same problem with T7 and went back to using pyrodex and do not have the problem.

Switch to blackhorn and they will all load easy with no swabbing and still group. 777 leaves a crud ring and if shooting a tight sabot can be hard to load. Less smoke and easier to clean than the other powders. Just follow the recommendations they suggest if using it.

x2

I've loaded over 20 shots over the coarse of a half day range session with BH209 and the last loaded just as easy as the first.

You where right on about the blue smooth sabots for my 45. I'm back to a group like I use to have and think this combination is going to be a good one.

no wonder its so hard to load my second shot in my omega..i have to slam the rod down to get it all the way down

Good idea. Would be easy to include a few cleaning supplies in my possibles kit. Also, I keep a quickloader with a powerbelt cause they load easy and shoot close enough to my regular load for a quick follow up shot.

I had the same problem so changed to Winchester 777 primers and it helped some. This year changed to the yellow super glide sabotrs and completely solved. The black sabots were almost too tight to load on a clean barrel.

If your breech plug is flat on the end, that could be part of the problem. The early omega had a flat end breech, newer models have a concave end. I changed mine out for newer model. I shoot pyrodex pellets without problem. (300 gr sst)

I shoot an Omega, and I use 777 loose and 777 primers. I killed three deer in about 15 minutes last year with no problems. I clean and season my barrel with TC bore butter and i put a little on the sabot petals. Zero problems.

Thats kinda funny because the yellow super glide and Winchester primers is what I have used.

Your exactly right! Imagine trying to freaking swap when a big buck is looking dead at you and you are shaking like a leaf..... I want a Muzzleloader that will at least get 2 shots off with consistency without having to swab. Does anyone have a Muzzleloader they are happy with that will group a few shots well without having to swab in-between shots?

If you use blackhorn and find a bullet/sabot combunation the gun likes you can shoot 20 times before worrying about cleaning with any ML. I didn't clean between shots when using 777 but powerbelts was the only bullet I could load 5 or 6 times. With blackhorn I can shoot barnes or hornady with blue sabots in my 45 encore and clean the barrel when the season is over.

Like I stated in the other thread, if you can find one, a Savage smokeless will outperform black powder guns and without any of the problems of a normal mz.
