Old rem 1100 LT-20

I bought this from my deceased friends son today.

Prerty sure my friend (was 72 at death) told me it was the first or second year they made the 1100s in the small lightweight frame reciever in 20g (around 1977 or 1978) when he was alive and we Shot skeet together. it's all original, around 95%, but the barrel code doesn't match with '77 or '78.

Any older rem experts out there than can give me better advice over what the general internet date codes give?

Serial number on the receiver starts with an 'M' prefix, so that would indicate sometime between 1974 and 1977 I think, which makes sense from what he told me when he bought it new.
