Hey, DA, Why does that deer look like he's wearing a collar? You already have a drag attached, or is it a neck shot. Not bashing the deer, if given the shot on him, I'd probably have taken it myself. Congrats on the backstraps.
that is blood

he was neck shot

wild wild wild evening

We were gonna take the boat and hunt some fields this eve but due to weather we decided to hunt the woods.

We went to a spot that has been good to pmc and my self years past in the evening the ole "slip and slide" named after the night pmc killed 2 there and slipped in the creek i believe txmag300 was with us that night as well

well on the way to the parking spot i ran over some vine that got wrapped up in my front tire so i stopped got out and got it unwrapped went on and parked the truck

got out cant find the ammo i put in my pocket i am like great i know i put 4 rds in my pocket well i look in my back pack and found 3 rds left from last years last day hunt with meathunter73 in wayne county i was like yes.

we get to our spot and there is a lil beech tree blocking a good view down the creek so i gently trimmed a lil limb on it splitting my thumbnail in half and my thumb open . i am kin to crappie luck and ruger no doubt i take some crap paper and wrap it up it is bleeding like a faucet

we set up on a rock ledge in a 2 man chair blind over looking river bottom and a creek. it is green and thick

well about 6 pm tyler sees a deer way off i can not see it at i tell him u get a shot take it well after a minute boom the 7/08 barks i asked did you get it he said he dont know i tell him we will wait till 630 then go look

he then about 5 minute later he says doe i look i cant see it i swear i must be blind he moves the rifle across my chest out the side window
i still dont see her then i do she is 30 yds away facing head on she gets real nervous i think she see us up above her
i told tyler you get the shot take in right in the center of the chest boom she runs about 40 yds and drops

well we go look at her cross the creek and started our way back up the road cause we had to cross about 40 yds up
i wanted to mark the road where the doe was on the other side of creek so we walk down throw the chair blind down to mark the spot i look down and there is 4 rds of ammo then we looked to the other side there is the other doe

life is funny

Ok now I have time for the backstory.

Not much to tell but I know some of you like the stories .

Started doing some light grunting about 10 min before this button buck came in. My stand is set up at the edge of a field inside the wood line . Deer comes running in at full speed from a thicket as if something is chasing it. As most deer do before they enter a open field they stop and scope it out . Fatal mistake. I draw back and let her rip. Deer was quartering away from me ever so slightly so I held a little far back and tried to imagine the arrow exiting the heart on the far side. It wound up going right out the front of his chest taking out his heart and leaving a big gaping hole gushing blood . Probably the best possible shot I could have made . He ran maybe 55 to 70 yards or so and piles up. Herd him crash and that was that. Got down and arrow was covered in blood. Looked like carnage on the Forrest floor so I just started tracking the blood. Never took my eyes off the track but looked up at one point and could see the button buck laying up ahead and said well that's that .

i like seeing the pics as they keep the motivation up after 2 weeks and only seeing a doe at 8 yards i couldnt get on target with... first year bowhunting and it is definitely a different animal than rifle or car hunting...

10-6-15, 6:40 pm, 15 yard shot, Stinger Buzzcut, Heli-m 65#. Complete pass thru. Entry was a touch high of center and exit thru the front shoulder. Last year I was shooting expandable broad heads and not getting the arrow out the other side of the deer. This year I switched to Stinger Buzzcut 100 grain. What a difference. Will never go back to expandable broad heads. This is my second deer this season.

Decided to take a doe this afternoon. Catman talked me out of taking her to the processor, so I'm drinking Jack and Coke and watching him skin her. 35 yard shot. Muzzy did it's job.

What a hunt and a great day it was. 6 years to the day same shooting house same crossbow that my son killed his first deer tyler was 9 years old Mike is 46 years old

This all started when my wife killed a 7 pointer last year, my co-worker Mike wanted it processed for him self. Well he fell in love with deer meat, cooking up all sorts of dishes sharing with friends and family. His mother has never ate deer in her life and she said it was dang good. His neighbors wife said she would never eat a deer, she tried some and liked it .

Well he got this wild hair and wanted to actually kill his own deer this year. I told him Id take him. He wanted to get a rifle so he did and has been shooting it this summer but I told him if you want to kill a deer NOV is your month and your best bet in tn is ML season. I told him he could shoot mine and we would go. Well anticipation was getting to him every day he just really wanted to go hunting.

I told him heck you could go during archery and take one with a cross bow, well he bought his archery license in like 5 minutes and was ready, this was like in july.

i took him monday after season was open as most hunts we did not see a thing. But for some reason we planned last week that we would go today. Weather was not good it was 85 today but what the heck you cant kill them if you are not in the woods.

about 6:20 mamma and a lil one came up the powerline, it was on. I told him to take the first deer (mamma) well she was not going to walk in front of the shooting house so i told him he was going to have to shoot out the side window.
15 yard shot she went 42 ish fell in sight. It was not that simple though the shot was perfect in but she was 1/4 to him so the exit was back she acted like she wasnt hit walked 30 yds stood there then the death wobble and dropped.

He got the taste of what every hunter that has killed a deer knows. How you can go from a high to the lowest of lows to the highest of highs in less than a minute. We were pumped when it was shot but i was un-nerverd the way she walked off but when she crashed oh man we were on cloud 9

he is freaking ruined no other words but ruined.
He is on a lease i am on 500 acres in houston county, i cant wait till he sees a buck
unicam we did not need the gps but we had it just in case :D

I will say this I have had the pleasure of putting my son, step daughter, wife and 2 of my sons friends on their first deer but putting a 46 year old co-worker and friend on one was just as exciting as all of those hunts
you would of thought a monster buck had been killed.

Great job guys.

I remember it was not too many years back how crossbows were considered the devil and you were cheating by using mechanical broadheads. Nowadays is it not only acceptable but it's becoming more popular.

Enjoy your kill. It's a good one,
