It was a beautiful slightly overcast sunrise this morning, felt like the beginning of the season with these cool temps. But not one gobble was heard by me in locations where I know there around. Is it worth hunting the rest of the morning or should I call it a season. It's been a quiet on for us this year but we still had a couple good hunts so I can't complain on bit.

In my area they were gobbling on the roost this morning. If I still had a tag I would chase them till the end. Late season birds can be hard to kill but I love the challenge of figuring out what calls they will react to. If they hear the same call all year long and have associated it with danger more than likely they will not come in. Changing calls and giving different sounds and tone of call has helped me over the years on those late season educated birds.

I had the same problem on my last few days. Acorn is right and I tried to change things up but I have been hunting public land and I believe the toms just got smart to everything and decided to shut down.

Saw birds strutting and gobbling today

This was last Tuesday
I had been saving it as long as I could
Had some unreal days where birds burnt it up . Had some bad days when I didn't hear crap. I passed up 4 birds trying to prolong my season . But last Tuesday was my last day to hunt . I had to help my folks w dr's appts wed and Thurs
Had to leave to the north east for a turkey hunt w my oldest Thursday night to finish my yr up in New England free lancing.
So I planned to hunt daylight to dark . Walked a lot
1 bird gobbled on the limb . Hit the ground quiet. At 11 I had 1 answer and he came in but skirted at 45 and I hunt w a 410.
I moved on him slightly called 1 time then I went quiet . At 1:58 he gobbled at the bottom of a ridge looking for me. I called one time . He cut me off . Came running in and died at 20 yards . Then I was off to the north east
