My wife was off work yesterday and wanted to go hunting with me so i told her to be ready when i got home from work. Well i got home about 3:20 pm she was waiting at the door, threw my camo on, grabbed my rifle and off we went. Pulled up to my grand dads farm about 3:50. We got out, ran all the cows off from around us, started walking through the pasture and off the hill to where we would set up. Just as we started off the hill we jumped a doe and this buck about 15 yards from us bedded down on the wooded hillside. They took off down the hill, i hollered at him he stopped about 50 yards away BANG end of story. The hunt lasted a total of about 10 minutes but its ten minutes i will never forget! The best deer i have ever took and being able to share the hunt with my wife was a plus. I did not figure they would be rutting in North Alabama yet after seeing a 7 point and a spike running together 2 weeks ago but guess after this cold spell and full moon they are. If someone could post the picture for me i would appreciate it. I can email or text the picture. Thanks

Im from Huntsville originally but my son lives in killen .... very nice buck ... congrats !! Im in west Tn now and been in Tn for the last 9 years. Heard they changed the game laws in Al. Is it still a buck a day or have they changed it......
 
Rut is wide open in that area right now so yes, its about that time in Lauderdale CO. I scored a 118" for a friend that was chasing last weekend (no shot) but shot this weekend on same ridge but checking scrapes this time.
 
She was just along for the "together time." I probably would have let her shot it but it all happened too fast. Alabamaswamper was the deer you scored killed in Zip City for a guy named Matt?
 
in the dog house... its a 3 buck limit now and one has to have at least 4 points on one side. Its kinda a joke the way alabama does it though. All you do is write it down on a piece of paper no calling it in or reporting it. Once the deer is processed or whatever all you have to do is print out another form to fill out. I personally do not see how this will help. It just keeps the honest guys to a 3 buck limit really in my opinion.

Yes. Glad he got him. We hunted together all growing up and after 10000000000 phone calls over the years asking how to kill a big buck (not sure why he called me...lol) , he finally got one.
 
I was feeding dogs last night and they started going nutts while eating. Then I heard the unmistakable sound of a buck grunting and chasing a doe behind my house.

This heat probably has a lot of it done at night right now but there is enough movement for some big deer to be killed the last 7-10 days.
 
Nice buck but now your wife is going to think you have been wasting time when you say you spent all day in the woods and come back with nothing.
